The Work
The Policy Software Engineering team provides a service to deliver policy content for public safety agencies. This allows agencies to customize their policies and procedures to accommodate local laws and regulations, etc.


The Software Engineer will work within an Agile team to build and maintain software components to support the policy product. Work with product owners to understand and clarify product requirements and priorities.  Work with DevOps to configure and deliver software components.  Work with QA to align on required testing.

This is done through working in these areas of focus:

Sprint Success Percentage
  • Ensure appropriate review, prioritization, and grooming of product backlog before sprint planning.
  • Ensure appropriate task breakdown and estimation of work accepting into the sprint. Follow Scrum best practices to ensure team accountability during sprint execution.

Lead Time
  • Ensure effective product backlog management & grooming procedures with Solutions Management.

Sprint Abandonment Percentage
  • Ensure appropriate review, prioritization, and grooming of product backlog before sprint planning.
  • Ensure appropriate task breakdown and estimation of work accepting into the sprint.
  • Follow Scrum best practices to ensure team accountability during sprint execution.

Defect Rate / Sprint
  • Ensure appropriate review, prioritization, and grooming of product backlog before sprint planning. Require creation of meaningful unit, integration, and smoke tests & high benchmarks for completion.

Test Coverage
  • Maintain & increase existing team standards for code & branch coverage, requiring creation of meaningful unit test procedures.



Requirements:  To be considered for this role, you will have this experience:
  • 5 years’ server-side development experience with Java required.
  • 3 years’ experience with web services and/or REST APIs required.
  • At least 1 year of software development in AWS

Preferred Experience:
  • Experience in developing using Scrum and Agile methods
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
  • Experience with AWS Lambdas and API Gateway
  • Experience developing using Scrum and Agile methods
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models, and Machine Learning is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
Lexipol offers a competitive base salary, monthly, quarterly, or annual incentive and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with Company match and a flexible paid time off plan.
Compensation for this role is $90-100 per hour based on experience.
