The Work

The DevOps team at Lexipol is responsible for building and maintaining the cloud infrastructure and automation pipelines that enable fast, secure, and scalable software delivery. We work closely with developers, QA, and product teams to remove friction, improve developer experience, and ensure reliable production systems.

We’re seeking a Lead DevOps Platform Engineer with strong development skills and experience building developer-focused tooling and infrastructure. This role emphasizes collaboration with software engineering teams, automation, and optimization of the development lifecycle to speed up delivery without compromising quality or security.

Key Responsibilities

Key Performance Objective #1: Optimize developer experience through CI/CD and tooling (35%)
  • Architect and evolve developer-centric CI/CD pipelines using modern practices and tooling (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, etc.).
  • Drive automation for build, test, and deployment workflows to improve speed and feedback for developers.
  • Partner with engineering teams to integrate testing, security scanning, and validation into the development lifecycle.
  • Advocate for and implement DevEx tooling that accelerates local development and deployment cycles.

Key Performance Objective #2: Build and manage infrastructure as code (30%)

  • Design and manage infrastructure using code-first approaches (Terraform).
  • Create reusable patterns and modules that allow product teams to provision infrastructure autonomously.
  • Enable consistent, versioned environments across dev, QA, and production using modern IaC practices.
  • Implement security and compliance automation early in the development lifecycle (shift left).

Key Performance Objective #3: Improve observability and reliability of systems (20%)

  • Collaborate with product engineers to ensure applications are instrumented with metrics, logs, and traces.
  • Design proactive alerting and monitoring strategies that help developers identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Support incident resolution with deep understanding of both code and infrastructure.

Key Performance Objective #4: Mentor and lead DevOps engineers and contract developers (15%)

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to DevOps engineers with a focus on developer enablement and productivity.
  • Oversee contractors and ensure consistent delivery of reusable, scalable infrastructure and tooling.
  • Evangelize DevOps and DevEx best practices across engineering teams.

Requirements:  To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Platform Engineer or Lead with a strong software development mindset, AWS, and collaboration background.
  • Experience working closely with application developers to improve pipelines, environments, and tools.
  • Deep experience with CI/CD pipeline tools and version control platforms (e.g., GitHub, Azure DevOps).
  • Proficiency with modern cloud platforms, especially AWS and/or Azure, and their developer tooling.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code expertise (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with serverless functions (e.g., AWS Lambda), containers, and microservices patterns.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices, including automated scanning and secrets management.
  • Monitoring/observability tool familiarity (Datadog, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Passion for developer productivity, automation, and system scalability.
  • Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with leadership, development teams, and external partners.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps best practices.

Preferred Experience:

  • AWS or Azure certifications.
  • Familiarity with secure development standards (e.g., SOC2, CJIS, OWASP).
  • Experience building developer platforms or internal tools.
  • Prior contributions to DevEx initiatives like inner source tooling, platform engineering, or developer portals.
  • Exposure to cost optimization strategies for cloud environments (FinOps).
