The Work 
The Lexipol Policy Content Training Team is responsible for the publication of all policy-related Daily Training Bulletins (DTBs) and other policy-related training for subscribers to any of Lexipol’s public safety and local government policy manuals. Additionally, the team contributes to, and in some cases is directly responsible for, the publication of public safety-related content of an occasional nature, or for another team which may have primary responsibility for that content.  


The Law Enforcement Policy Training Content Developer researches, reviews, and authors written content across Lexipol’s various public safety and local government product lines, incorporates updates identified by other team members into policy training documents, evaluates training content for practicality and functionality within public safety and local government organizations, researches content to align with best practice standards, and recommends changes and updates as necessary. The Law Enforcement Policy Training Content Developer may also review and create other written content as assigned.  

The prime objective for the Law Enforcement Policy Training Content Developer is to deliver assigned projects with a high level of quality, while adhering to time constraints. This role is primarily a writing role, which includes drafting, reviewing, revising, and editing policy training content. This is done through working in these areas of focus: 

Learning:
  • Learning Lexipol content, writing style, and internal working procedures 
  • Learning our methods of self- and peer-assessment and open communication, and implementation of these methods of communication with your assigned manager and team members 
  • Regularly practicing the actions of self-reporting and asking for assistance in improving your skillset via additional support and training from coworkers to achieve high levels of proficiency 
  • Learning new processes, procedures, and software 
  • Maintaining timely and accurate electronic records, logs, and files 

Collaboration:
  • Participating in team meetings and other collaborative assignments 
  • Conferring with subject matter experts and industry experts 
  • Participating in group meetings to determine content to be developed for publication 
  • Collaborating with industry experts and internal teams to develop content for publication using various resources and collaborative tools 
  • Meeting with supervisor as scheduled or as necessary

Content:
  • Developing policy training content as needed to account for accreditation standards and reporting, and completing accreditation tagging of standards to policy training content
  • Evaluating policies, incorporating collaborative input from other teams, researching training content to align with state-specific practices or standards, and recommending updates as necessary 
  • Developing and preparing new policy training and procedural training content, and updating existing policy training and procedural training content for multiple jurisdictions, to include satisfying applicable accreditation standards as applicable
  • Reviewing published materials and recommending revisions in scope and format 
  • Staying abreast of new law enforcement trends and innovations, to include legal and risk management assessments
  • Managing priorities to complete assignments within designated timeframes 
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to provide high quality, error-free work products for our clients 
  • Developing training content, to include DTBs and other training content as assigned 

Requirements – To be considered for this role, you will have this experience/background: 
  • Minimum of five years’ law enforcement training experience within the last seven years (e.g., training manager, training coordinator, agency trainer).
  • Minimum of two years’ law enforcement supervisory/managerial experience within the last seven years with a US-based Law Enforcement agency, with current working knowledge of state and/or national best practices.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience developing law enforcement policy, procedure, and training content within the last seven years (e.g., researching, authoring, reviewing, revising).
  • Exceptional creative writing, storytelling, and analytical skills. 
  • Understanding the purpose of policy training and possessing the ability to evaluate material for applicability in one or more public safety and local government sectors. 
  • Ability to comprehend and present information and ideas as part of a collaborative process in a fast-paced remote-work environment. 
  • Ability to prioritize multiple, repetitive assigned tasks and due dates, while utilizing problem-solving skills to evaluate new information or changing circumstances and providing creative solutions to problems as they arise.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work with little supervision within a home-office setting. 
  • Advanced functional knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong computer skills. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a strong knowledge of English composition and grammar standards. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in Education, Criminal Justice Administration, Corrections, Police Science, Public Policy, Criminology, Public Administration, Psychology, Law, Pre-Law, Journalism or a similar relevant focus.
  • Passion for developing and effectively presenting information and ideas in writing. 

Preferred Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience in micro-learning content development:  including breaking down complex policy or training topics into short, targeted, and interactive modules designed for law enforcement audiences. 
  • Hands-on experience designing and delivering micro-learning across multiple formats (e.g., mobile, video, LMS modules, flashcards), with a focus on engagement, retention, and compliance tracking.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning principles, including the ability to apply andragogical concepts such as self-direction, relevance, immediate applicability, and experience-based learning to content development.
  • Experience developing training content that aligns with policy, case law, and operational practices, particularly in the public safety or law enforcement sectors.
  • Ability to translate complex legal or procedural language into accessible, scenario-based content that reflects real-world decision-making environments and supports knowledge application in the field.

Target Outcomes / Target Results:
  • Consistently use Wrike to track, update, and close assigned tasks. Maintain real-time status on 100% of assigned tasks, with no more than 5% overdue tasks per quarter.
  • Produce assigned content aligned with state-specific content and Lexipol quality standards with 95% of created content passing internal peer review without requiring major corrections.
  • Produce policy training content that is factually accurate, legally sound, and aligned with best practices, with fewer than 5% of submissions requiring substantive revisions during peer or manager review.
  • Ensure that 100% of assigned training content is aligned with current accreditation standards, legal requirements, and best practices for law enforcement/public safety. All submitted content should include appropriate accreditation tagging where applicable.
  • Consistently collaborate with subject matter experts, internal Lexipol team members, and other stakeholders to integrate feedback into training materials, with documented evidence on 100% of assigned tasks.
  • Deliver policy training content (e.g., DTBs) for assigned states by the published target date, achieving error-free submission on the first round at least 95% of the time.

Compensation and Benefits: 
Lexipol offers a competitive base salary, monthly or annual incentive, and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with company match and a flexible paid time off plan. 

This is a full-time hourly role with a rate of $31 to 35 per hour.
