The Work

The Lead Software Architect provides technical leadership to the Engineering team responsible for one or more products.  The architect collaborates with Solutions Management, the Chief Architect, Engineering leadership, other teams, and stakeholders to investigate and understand functional and non-functional product requirements, producing and maintaining high-level product specifications and design guidance.  He/she supports the staff manager/director of the product line in planning and staffing decisions and in specification of product roadmaps, estimates, and backlogs.  Additionally, the architect will actively participate in creating proofs of concept and other short-term efforts intended to validate architectures and solutions. Daily interaction with developers, testers, and DevOps specialists ensures the successful realization of the product architecture. This is a remote position.
 
This is done through working in these areas of focus:
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align architecture with business goals.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and ensure alignment with product roadmaps.
  • Review and refine the system architecture as new requirements are provided.
  • Analyze new requirements, propose architectural changes, and document updates.
  • Ensure consistency within the products under the architect’s purview.
  • Develop and enforce architectural guidelines, conduct regular code reviews, and facilitate architecture review meetings.
  • Provide technical mentorship to software development teams.
  • Offer guidance on best practices, conduct training sessions, and support developers in solving complex technical problems.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to design scalable systems, reliable CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes, and system observability.
Requirements and Expected Outcomes

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Expert knowledge of design principles, tools, and techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Expert knowledge of software architectures, including microservices and serverless architectures.
  • Expert knowledge of multiple programming languages & frameworks.
  • Experience with Python & Django is mandatory.
  • Experience with Java & Spring Framework and JavaScript & React are strongly preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases is required, especially MySQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with AWS cloud environments, including services such as Lambda, API Gateway, Cognito, S3, EC2, and RDS.
  • Expert-level understanding and experience in specifying and designing REST APIs, GraphQL, and other web service architectures.
  • Knowledge of authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OIDC, OAuth2 and JWT.
  • Experience applying Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies to problems in the product domain. Experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience as a software architect on one or more products of similar scale.
Education and Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • AWS Solutions Architect - Associate certification (required).
  • AWS Solutions Architect - Professional certification (strongly preferred).

Compensation and Benefits

Lexipol offers a competitive base salary, monthly, quarterly, or annual incentive and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with Company match and a flexible paid time off plan.
 
Targeting base salary of $175,000 plus annual bonus.
